Back in 2002, Eddie Murphy released "The Adventures of Pluto Nash." The movie was made for about $100,000,000, and only made back $7,000,000 worldwide. Do the math - it only made back seven percent of the original budget. It was considered a flop, and is called one of the worst movies of all time. Eddie Murphy's new film, "Meet Dave," can be added to the list. It was made for about the same price, and only made an estimated $5.3 million this weekend. While it still made more than "Pluto Nash" opening weekend, it seems like everyone is tired of this guy raping our beloved celluloid.
R.I.P. Eddie Murphy's Career.
This is devastating... he really is a good actor. Witness Dreamgirls... or Coming to America... or any of his "Saturday Night Live" work. And he can't even blame his piss-poor choices on an addiction or mental illness. Maybe he just needs to take a several-years break.
It's not like he's bad, but the movies he stars in people just don't want to watch anymore...
But his old work was really good. Bowfinger was amazing :D
