Hi, this is Anthony Thurber aka, the Chamberkeeper. I wanted to post an open letter here on this site because I've been hearing rumors that Darren Lynn Bousman's latest film Repo: The Gentic Opera, which is one of my most anticipated movies of the fall, may end up geting a lousy theatrical release. So I've decided to email Liongate's President Joe Drake email address about this possible situation. I wanted to post this open letter on the site to let you Film Arcaders know what I sent him, in case he gives me some stupid response.

Dear Mr. Drake:

The reason that I’m writing this open letter is to let you know that horror fans like me and my readers alike want to see “Repo: The Genetic Opera” get a wide theatrical release. The current plan is to give the film a limited release on November 7th. By doing this, most horror fans won’t be able to judge this film for ourselves. We want to see if this is a cult classic in the making. We want to see this film on the big screen the way it was intended to be seen, not on DVD or on Fearnet, like the company is doing with “Midnight Meat Train” when it gave it an awful theatrical release a couple of months ago.

Here’s some facts that will make you change your mind about the film’s release:

1) The film is being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, the same director that directed Saw II-IV. Those three Saw film grossed over 230 million dollars theatrically for your company.

2) The company Twisted Pictures, who were also the production company behind the Saw films, is producing this film.

3) The film’s cast includes Anthony Head, who starred the popular show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer;” Sarah Brightman, who sang at the opening of the Bejing Olympics this year; genre veteran Bill Mosley, who’s started in both House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects; and Paris Hilton, who is one of the most talked about celebrities in the news.

4) The film has been getting very positive reviews from horror sites, such as Dread Central, Bloody Disgusting and Shock Till You Drop.

5) Hardcore horror fans are very excited, about this film.

Mr. Drake, please change your mind about this film, as Darren Lynn Bousman deserves to have his film be seen by a wider audience, so us horror fans, who having been waiting for this film to be released get the chance to see it on the big-screen, as it was meant to be seen.

Thank you for reading this letter and if you have any questions, complaints or want to be interviewed about this, feel free to email me at anthonythurber@filmarcade.net.

Sincerely

Anthony Thurber

I will be also leaving a comment on the film's myspace page to let them know. If you want to Repo: The Genetic Opera get a wide release, please bombard Joe Drake's email box at jdrake@lionsgate.com, because the only way that we are going to save original horror is to let our voices be heard to these studio heads. I'll give you an update on this here, when or if he reponses to this email.

It will be in solid theaters, unlike meat train, but it will only be in a few hundred of them. you will be able to go.

Great letter, AT. I also want to watch this in a theater. This looks really good. Even Paris Hilton looks motivated here. Let's hope Lionsgate wakes up. November can't come soon enough.
