Hairspray-ier? Yes, it's true! The folks at Warner Bros. are planning a sequel to last summer's musical hit, "Hairspray". The film, which had a killer cast with stars like John Travolta and uprising star, Nikki Blonski, was a remake of the 1988 film written by John Waters, and did very well in the box office.
So far, the only person that has signed on for the sequel is director/choreographer Adam Shankman. John Waters (writer of the original "Hairspray") has a signed a contract with Warner Bros. to write the sequel to his original classic. Now, all they've got to do is get everyone to return! Shouldn't be to hard, should it? (Note the sarcasm).
Last year's "Hairspray" is one of my favorite films of all time. I loved it. (Read my review for it here!) So, part of me is really looking forward to this. However, I am really wondering what John Waters is planning to do with this! I am having a hard time picturing a "Hairspray 2". It was his original story, so, we'll see just how he puts a twist on it. I also believe that Warner Bros. is going to have a really hard time re-signing everybody that starred last year. Take a look at this amazing cast!
The film is set to be released in July 2010.
