Going into Slippery Slope, I was going in with little expectations, even though the premise of the film looked interesting. The reason for that was that this was a sex comedy and it would be like films like Superbad and American Pie with it’s gross out humor. Thankfully it was not, as this is one of the funniest films that I’ve seen this year.

The film is about a young filmmaker, Gillian, whose film “Feminism for Dummies” get accepted to a major film festival. The only problem is that she can’t get the master print to her film because she owes money to film developer. She then meets a mysterious producer, who wants her to direct a film. The only problem is it a porn film. She then secretly takes the job, in order to get her film back. While working on the project, she’s awakened sexually, in surprising ways, which make her husband and parents become very suspicious of what she’s doing. This will lead to one the hilarious finales that I’ve seen this year.

Slippery Slope is a very funny looking at the adult industry. Writer/director Sarah Schenck direction was very good. I liked how, she doesn’t try and make this film like all the sex comedies that you would see, from the major studios. She really does a good job at the adult industry while also focusing on the pit falls of indie filmmaking. She also handles the direction of the sex material very well, as it didn’t get to gross out or have an abundant amount of senseless nudity that would turn off most people. One of Schenck’s strengths with this film was her direction of the actors. I thought the acting here was very good. They handled the comedic material very well, as I could tell that they were having fun with the material at hand. The film has a very good comedic performance by Kelly Hutchinson. She did a great job making her character very funny, as the performance made me laugh a lot.

Schenck’s screenplay was written very well. One of things that I liked about this screenplay was the fact this film wasn’t too over the top with the sex and humor. She handles the sex part very well here, as Schenck uses it as part of the story instead of just using it for needless fun. The humor is this film was written very well, as the material was funny and made me laugh out loud, unlike in some sex comedies you see from the major studios like Superbad and the American Pie films, which are too gross out and don’t have an interesting story to tell. She also develops her main character Gillian, very well. Schenck does that by exploring her relationship with her husband and mother, while trying to hide the fact that she is directing an adult film. It makes the story and film, funny and entertaining.

Slippery Slope is the funniest sex comedy that I’ve seen in a long time, as it has good comedic performances and an entertaining story.
