It's sad day in the world of cinema, as the Associated Press and Reuters is reporting that high profiled eighties teen director John Hughes passed away at the age of 59 today, as of a result of a heart attack in New York City.

John Hughes was a legendary comedy director that rose to fame various teen films that included "Sixteen Candle", "The Breakfast Club", Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Weird Science". He also directed a couple other comedy classics "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" and "Uncle Buck" .

He was also a successful screenwriter too, as he wrote the screenplays for "Pretty in Pink", "Home Alone 1 &2", "Mr. Mon" and "101 Dalmatians".

John Hughes leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Nancy, two sons, John and James and four grandchildren.
