Bloody Earth Films has send us over information about the upcoming DVD release of their latest film "Zombie eXs". The film has played at such horror film festivals as 2012’s ZED Fest and the 2012 Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival.

Special Features on the DVD include Actor Commentary, Commentary with Director George Smith and Producer Paul Manoogian, Mohawk Rob Femme FX featurette, Cast Confessions, Behind the Scenes Photo Montage, Zombie eXs trailer and Bloody Earth Films Trailer Vault. Synopsis:

What if your ex-girlfriends all wanted you back…and came back as zombies?

Zach’s about to break up with the girl of his dreams…again. To teach him a lesson, his buddy Dan rigs a dating show so that the contestants are all Zach’s ex-girlfriends. If that’s not bad enough, the show is sponsored by HAPIwater, the newest fad in H20 drinks, and it’s having a really odd effect on everyone who drinks it. Luckily, Zach’s best friend Lilly might have a lead on a cure, and together with Dan they launch a plan to steal the antidote and save the world. That is, if they can just stay one step ahead of Zach’s ravenous ZOMBIE eXs!

I don’t know about that…

The film follows a comic book writer, Walter, working on his newest character/book, Crimson, hoping to get it published so he can move he and his girlfriend out of the slums and into the suburbs.

Everywhere this guy goes he is surrounded by crime, whether it is being held up at gunpoint while trying to get a muffin and coffee, or his poor sister trying to get muscled out of her house by the local Irish Mob so they can build their casino.

Awaking in a hospital after a “savage” beating at the hands of the Irish mob, Walter, with no memory but of his character Crimson, figures that he is Crimson and goes on a crusade to take down the Irish mob.

First off, let me say that if Christian Bale’s Batman voice got on your nerves, don’t even watch this because, it is done even less convincingly and more annoying. Crimson’s voice sounds like Rorschach and Batman in a growling match.

The camera work was very shaky and when they tried to do dramatic zooms, it was like they weren’t sure and the zoom ended up choppy. The lighting was harsh and blown out in parts. The audio sounded like it was just recorded on the camera mic and when they were in an enclosed area, the sound bounces around and is very distracting.

The acting was the best it could be for a low budget film. There is really nothing more I can say other than don’t expect a Brando-esque performance from anyone.

I feel like the story tried to be a bit of Kickass mixed with Boondock Saints, but did not achieve the desired result. Please don’t get me wrong, I understand the limitations of low budget filmmaking, but this really could have been done better just by fixing the lighting and camera work. Maybe throw a grain filter on in After FX or whatever editing software they used, adjust the frame rate to make it look more filmy. I will give them credit for not over using digital blood. There may have been some, but it was masked well, and they used squibs for gunshots.

Overall, I was unimpressed with this film, but it wasn’t the worst low budget film I’ve seen.
