A rookie private eye and his team put together a plan to rescue a kidnapped computer hacker who downloaded something he shouldn’t have. A simple heist, rescue the hacker and retrieve the downloaded booty for themselves, but things don’t always go as planned. The heist turns deadly when a hidden agenda is revealed leading to an explosive climax of betrayal and revenge.
Have you ever wondered what an adult porn film would look like without beautiful people and sex scenes? Then you have the only good reason to rent The Scratch. Wooden acting, stilted dialog, lengthy pauses, and generic jazz to fill the multiple periods of inactivity. To that add slow pacing, jumpy editing, poor production value, wordy, boring dialog, and underdeveloped characters. Just as you are ready to turn it off there is some gratuitous nudity and you hope that the plot will take off. But to no avail.
This direct-to-DVD offer by Maverick, a Florida distributor with a large inventory of low budget fare is awful. On the other hand, I did enjoy the little joke regarding Harv's reading matter...some of the magazine titles were pretty funny. But still, not enough to suffer through 92 minutes of..of..of ???. One star for getting distribution.
