Press Release:

The 8th annual Indianapolis International Film Festival is underway, taking place from July 14-24 at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA). Unveiled as the " Secret Screening" THE SWELL SEASON will screen on July 22, 2011 at 9 p.m. in the IMA's outdoor ampitheater as part of the museum's popular Summer Nights Film Series. This is a co-presentation of IMA, Indy Film Fest and MOKB Presents.

After starring in the indie film hit Once in 2007 and winning the Academy Award® for best original song ("Falling Slowly"), folk rock musicians Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova skyrocketed to fame. For them life seemed to imitate art—the onscreen relationship was closely intertwined in both fact and fiction. But when they got back to post-Oscar® reality, Hansard, 35, and Irglova, only 18 years old, decided to ride their wave of new-found popularity by heading on tour.

This subtle and mesmerizing black-and-white music documentary bears witness to the band and the couple, from musical that vibrate the screen to quiet moments where body language and silent pauses signal foreboding heartbreak. Newcomer directors Nick August-Perna, Chris Dapkins, and Carlo Mirabella-Davis weave an intelligent and poignant tale with universal themes of love and expectations faithfully imbued with the magic and honesty of Hansard and Irglova's music.

MOKB Presents, a new partner for the festival, has expanded their focus from concert promotion, to releasing new music through their record label Roaring Colonel Records and promotion of events beyond live music.

The Indy Film Fest features films from the US and around the world. The event opened July 14 with a screening of Fox Searchlight’s ANOTHER EARTH. Other titles at the festival range from selections featured at Sundance, Tribeca and Cannes film festivals, to newly discovered regional filmmaking. The festival closes on Saturday, July 23 with THESE AMAZING SHADOWS.. The entire festival line-up is available online.
