Now in its 11th year the spectacular New York City Horror Film Festival, giving a platform to new and independent international horror film, returns for another grand weekend, November 14–17 on the twin screens of the Tribeca Cinemas, at 54 Varick Street, just south of Canal. Hein created the New York City Horror Film Festival in 2002 to offer a needed platform for the independent filmmakers of modern horror films and continued his work until his untimely passing in 2012. The Viscera Organization is thrilled to announce the winners from the fourth annual Viscera Film Festival which showcased 13 incredible short horror films to a packed house at the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. The 2013 VFF was co-presented by the American Cinematheque and celebrated emerging female filmmakers from several continents spanning across the globe. During an awards ceremony on July 13th directly following the short films program, the Viscera Film Festival winners were revealed.

Director Jennifer Lynch was also at the Viscera Film Festival this past weekend where she accepted the Inspiration Award in honor of her pioneering filmmaking career starting with 1993's BOXING HELENA; Lynch has continued to establish her legacy of powerful storytelling through various other projects including SURVEILLANCE, CHAINED and the controversial HISSS.

This year's festival kicked off with a bloody carpet ceremony featuring many familiar faces from the independent horror world and wrapped up at the legendary landmark, the Cat & Fiddle, afterwards where festival-goers partied until late into the evening.

The Viscera Film Festival will also be kicking off an international tour shortly for the selected short films as well as a handful of tour selections that aren’t screening at the premiere event. This past year, the Viscera Tour landed at over 20 venues around the world ranging from independent movie houses to universities, screening an eclectic program of shorts that have been curated by the Viscera Organization since 2007. The tour provides an outlet for up- and-coming female filmmakers around the world to have their work shown on the big screen and to industry professionals. Fantastic Fest is tying on the black belt for the red carpet premiere of MAN OF TAI CHI and the festival's initial lineup of incredible genre films. Fantastic Fest will take place September 19-26 in Austin, Texas at the Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline.

"Every year we scour the globe for the freshest and craziest genre films," says Fantastic Fest founder and creative director Tim League. "This first incredible selection of films gives a small taste of the fun, but I can assure you there are lots of surprises yet to come. 2013 should be remembered a vintage year for Fantastic Fest."

Keanu Reeves stars in and makes his directorial debut in the multi-lingual narrative, MAN OF TAI CHI. Partly inspired by the life of Reeves' friend, stuntman Tiger Chen, MAN OF TAI CHI tells the story of a young martial artist whose unparalleled Tai Chi skills land him in a highly lucrative underground fight club. Fantastic Fest is excited to announce Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills will have its world premiere on September 19, 2013 as the opening night film for the 2013 festival, which will take place in Austin, Texas at the new Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline location from September 19-26, 2013. Talent from the film, including Danny Trejo, Alexa Vega and Robert Rodriguez, will be in attendance. Additional talent to be confirmed closer to festival.

The film, directed by Tim McCanlies (Secondhand Lions, Alabama Moon), is a comedic, heartfelt story about the importance of family ties, the power of forgiveness and the undeniable magic of Christmas.

When Angels Sing stars Harry Connick, Jr. (Dolphin Tale) as Michael Walker, a modern day Scrooge who has only wanted one thing for Christmas - to forget about it. After unknowingly buying a house on a street famous for its Christmas celebrations, Michael must learn how to confront his past and save his son from repeating the same mistakes he did.

The star-studded cast includes Emmy Award nominee Connie Britton (Nashville, Friday Night Lights), Chandler Canterbury (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Host), Fionnula Flanagan (The Guard), Lyle Lovett (Castle) with Academy Award nominees & Grammy winners Willie Nelson (The Dukes of Hazzard) and Kris Kristofferson (Dolphin Tale).

When Angels Sing was produced by Elizabeth Avellán (The Spy Kids franchise, Sin City), Fred Miller (For All Mankind), and Shannon McIntosh (Inglorious Bastards, Django Unchained). The production team also includes executive producers Scott Rankin, Sharon Rankin and Randall Dark, with Dominic Cancilla and Turk Pipkin serving as co-producers. The screenplay by Lou Berney is based on the book of the same name by Turk Pipkin (The Tao of Willie).

Turk Pipkin originally wrote the book When Angels Sing as a Christmas gift to give to his friends and family. Immediately, producer Fred Miller knew that it was a movie waiting to be made, but missed out on buying the book's motion picture rights the first time around. After four years of waiting and periodically asking about its status, Miller was finally able to buy the rights and begin the two year process of assembling the best possible team for the film. After spending two years working on putting the project together, Miller and the rest of the team are excited for SXSW to World Premiere When Angels Sing.

The 1st Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival is excited to announce two new films to its lineup: Chris Alexander's debut vampire tale Blood for Irina and Alejandro Brugués' Cuban zombie comedy Juan of the Dead.

Blood for Irina, from Fangoria editor Chris Alexander, follows the titular character: a predator who stalks streets at night looking for blood, she has lived over a century; tormented by memory, living in a run-down motel by the sea, Irina has reached the end. Her perceptions skewed, her body and mind revolting against themselves, she waits for an exit. Her private hell is echoed by the motel manager driven by an obsession to protect Irina and keep her secrets safe, and a broken prostitute whose desperate plight may be worse than Irina's.

Juan of the Dead follows the tale of consummate slacker/schemer/survivor Juan and his rogues gallery of friends as they navigate their way through the outbreak of a zombie apocalypse. Seeing a means to profit from the disaster, Juan forms a business out of disposing of loved ones who have turned over into mindless flesh eaters. Along the way they discover the situation they are in is declining fast, and their choice to stay and attempt to survive may have been the wrong one.

Named for the iconic novelist and short story writer whose work inspired the films Blade Runner, Total Recall and Minority Report, the three-day event aims to start a tradition of honoring films inspired by authors who have explored the metaphysical and eerie in all its manifestations.

Confirmed films for the Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival include the festival hit The Last Push starring Alien's Lance Henriksen, Tribeca selection First Winter from Benjamin Dickinson, and Radio Free Albemuth starring Alanis Morrissette and Twilight's Ashley Greene.

The first day of the festival will feature a 3 hour block of foreign-language science fiction films, courtesy of the Cervantes Institute. From 2pm to 5pm, screenings will be held of award-winning sci-fi from Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, and Portugal.

Dr. Ronald Mallett Ph.D will lead the panel "Is Science Fiction the Science of the Future?", joined by Latin American sci-fi writer Angela Posada-Swafford and Enrique Ricardo Miranda, Ph.D. "Philip K. Dick, the Meaning of Valis and the New Consciousness" will be hosted by Radio Free Albemuth director John Alan Simon. Walter Mosley, author of "Blue Light" and "The Wave," will be a panelist in "The Outside in Science Fiction," a focus on African-American and Latino perspectives in the genre.

Other highlights of the festival will be non-competitive screenings of the Sundance selection Sleep Dealer, Spiders 3D, The Mist in the Palm Trees and the science thriller The Final Equation. On the documentary side, the festival has an extensive lineup covering topics from artificial intelligence to the singularity and space exploration.

As the first ever post-Halloween Exploitation and Horror film festival in New York City looms, tickets are already starting to be snapped up for this exciting event! On the weekend of November 3rd and 4th 2012, the Hell Gate Social, Queen's premier art lounge, will be home to werewolves, demons, crazed masked serial killers and the spirits of the old 42nd street grindhouse scene!

Werewolf film "DEVIL MOON" (nominated for best short Blood Bath IV) written by Liam Makrogiannis will have it's NYC premiere alongside the screening of the classic 1980s horror movie "SLUGS" with star Michael Garfield present to sign autographs and talk about the film with fans. The event culminates in an awards ceremony at the end of the weekend. Submissions have come in from across the nation and around the world. Respected VHS horror expert Matt Desiderio of Horror Boobs will be hosting the events.

There are only a limited number of tickets on sale, so booking in advance is essential.

Directors, producers and horror stars such as MICHAEL GARFIELD (Slugs, The Warriors), MANOUSH (Barricade, Necronos), DEMETRI KALLAS (The Super), BILL MCLAUGHLIN (The Turnpike Killer), JOHNNY DICKIE (Slaughter Tales), LIAM MAKROGIANNIS (Devil Moon, The Turnpike KIller), RUBY LAROCCA (The Lost) and more have confirmed attendance and will intermittently be available to answer questions, meet and greet and sign autographs.

Now that Halloween is drawing near, female filmmakers working in genre cinema are stampeding to Viscera as it announces its 2013 festival call for submissions. Now through February 28, 2013 (culminating in Women in Horror Month), Viscera is accepting digital submissions for its 2013 festival season. Unlike most festivals, Viscera does not charge submission fees. Filmmakers interested in submitting should head to the Submissions tab of the main website, www.viscerafilmfestival.com.

For filmmakers whose work is selected, gore-soaked masses of thrilling experiences await. On the Viscera Film Festival Bloody Carpet Event, filmmakers pose for photos and meet fans and fellow filmmakers, as well as big-name celebrity guests. Films are screened in front of enthusiastic crowds (this July, Viscera screened at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles). Uniquely beautiful awards are given out, and there’s always an after-party. But the Viscera World Tour is the real draw: Festival-selected films are shown around the world throughout the year. As every filmmaker knows, the more a film screens, the greater the opportunity is for furthering a career in the industry.

Although Viscera’s primary mission is to promote female filmmakers, the Organization doesn’t believe in exclusion or domination, but in equality. Many men are co-directors/co-producers of the films programmed. Even scary little monsters (filmmakers age 18 and under) can gain support in their budding careers via Viscera’s Fresh Blood category.

Screamfest® kicks off its 12th annual festival on Friday, October 12 at 8:00 p.m. with the opening night horror The Collection, directed by Marcus Dunstan (writer of Saw IV, V, VI and Saw 3D: The Final Chapter). Screamfest®, the preeminent horror festival in the country, and what the LA Weekly calls "the best place to get a jump on tomorrow's cult hits" presents the festival in Los Angeles on October 12 through October 21 at LA Live Regal Cinemas (1000 West Olympic Blvd., LA, CA).

From the writing-directing team Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Saw IV, V and VI) comes The Collection, a suspense horror film with nonstop thrills at every turn. Directed by Dunstan and starring Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises, The Collector), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network) and Christopher McDonald ("Boardwalk Empire," Requiem for a Dream), the film centers on a traumatized man forced to help rescue a beautiful woman who has become the latest obsession of a crazed killer who "collects" humans in a booby-trapped house of horrors. Both Dunstan and Melton will be in attendance for the opening night screening as well as cast members Josh Stewart and Emma Fitzpatrick.

When ELENA (Fitzpatrick) is talked into attending an underground rave party with her friends, she finds herself caught in a nightmarish trap where the revelers are mowed, sliced and crushed to death by a macabre series of contraptions operated by a masked psychopath. When the grisly massacre is over, Elena is the only survivor. But before she can escape, she is locked in a trunk and transported to an unknown location.

Fortunately for Elena, one man-ARKIN (Stewart)-knows exactly where she's headed, having just escaped from there with his life and sanity barely intact. Going back is the last thing on Arkin's mind, but Elena's wealthy father (McDonald) hires a crack team of mercenaries to force Arkin to lead them to the killer's lair. But even these hardened warriors are not prepared for what they encounter: an abandoned hotel-turned-torture-chamber, rigged with deadly traps and filled with mangled corpses. Can Arkin and the team get to Elena before she too becomes part of his gruesome "collection?"

The film is written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Saw IV, V, VI, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter) and produced by Liddell Entertainment and Fortress Features. LD Entertainment is releasing The Collection on November 30th.

Fantastic Fest is thrilled to announce the final installment of programming for Fantastic Fest 2012, including the world premiere screening of The Collection.  Fantastic Fest will take place September 20-27 in Austin, Texas at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.

When Elena's (Emma Fitzpatrick) friends take her to a secret party at an undisclosed location, she never imagined she would become the latest victim of The Collector, a psychopathic killer. The Collector kidnaps and transports her to an abandoned hotel he's transformed into his own private maze of torture and death. Upon learning of his daughter's disappearance, Elena's wealthy father (Christopher McDonald) hires a group of mercenaries to retrieve her from the vicious grips of The Collector. These mercenaries coerce Arkin (Josh Stewart), the only man to have escaped the wrath of this heinous monster, to lead them through the gruesome labyrinth. Now, Arkin finds himself fighting for his own life in order to save Elena. "The Collection," directed by Marcus Dunstan and written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton, is a suspense horror film with nonstop thrills at every turn, starring Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises), Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network), and Christopher McDonald (Requiem for a Dream).  LD Entertainment will release The Collection in theaters November 30, 2012.
