Press Release:

Arcanum Pictures is excited to announce the world premiere of their new coming of age comedy, Grow Up, Tony Phillips, at the 26th annual South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas. The film, directed by Emily Hagins, is a comedy about a Halloween-obsessed high school senior who doesn't think childhood passions should have an expiration date.

Grow Up, Tony Phillips stars Tony Vespe as Tony Phillips, a high school senior who loves Halloween but whose friends believe they are too cool for the holiday. When his older cousin (AJ Bowen) returns home right before Halloween, Tony starts to wonder if he really is the dork everyone thinks he is, or if he's just ahead of the curve.

"Grow Up, Tony Phillips is a story I felt passionate about telling because it reflects a genuine transition point in the teen experience I think is important and often overlooked," said Director Emily Hagins.

Emily Hagins was the first teenage girl in the US to make a feature film (Pathogen) at the age of twelve and was the subject of the documentary Zombie Girl: The Movie. Her third feature, My Sucky Teen Romance, premiered at SXSW 2011, where it was picked up for distribution by Dark Sky Films. Grow Up, Tony Phillips is Emily Hagins' fourth feature film and is produced by Peter Hall and Paul Gandersman.
