Press Release:
Fathead Films is proud to announce their upcoming short film “Trapped” to begin production in Belvidere/Rockford area early 2012.
Trapped
Trapped is a scary but kid friendly short film currently in pre-production and slated to begin principal photography in the Belvidere, IL area early 2012. The film Produced/Directed by Keith Romine of Fathead Films will primarily feature local Northern Illinois talent ages 8 to 18... and of course some adults to fill the roles of meddling parents, troublesome siblings and maybe even a villain or two.
The Concept
Keith Romine began toying with the concept that has evolved into Trapped in late 2010. Keith's purpose was to bring a 'scary' but kid friendly film to his acting students and other young actors in the Northern Illinois region. Inspired by his young acting classes in the Belvidere and Rockford IL areas Keith commissioned Kelsey Zukowski (What They Say) of Chicago to write a short screenplay stating he wanted a scary movie that (unlike most of his work) his acting students could audition to be in and actually watch once finished!
The Team
Kelsey exceeded expectations and after nearly a year of planning Trapped is ready to begin production. Keith has teamed with Berdella Endress (That's My Girl) to Co-Produce and has also brought on Stuart Wahlin (Hand of Glory) as Director of Photography. Keith hopes to see many of his current and former students auditioning but notes that auditions will not be limited to Fathead Films students and to avoid bias Keith will rely heavily on the rest of his production team to assist in casting decisions. Auditions will be held early December in the Belvidere and Rockford, IL area.

Press Release:
Denis Leary (Rescue Me), along with Apostle partner Jim Serpico, will executive produce the feature documentary “BURN”. The project, directed by Tom Putnam and Brenna Sanchez, is targeting a 2012 winter festival circuit with future plans for a theatrical release.
“BURN” is an action-packed documentary about Detroit, told through the eyes of its firefighters, the men and women charged with the thankless task of saving a city that many have written off as dead. The film tells an American story about struggle, hope and personal courage in the face of overwhelming odds.
Leary and team have launched a “Kickstarter.com” campaign to help fund the documentary by offering custom items and experiences to financial donors including a set visit to “Boardwalk Empire,” an autographed leather helmet signed by the cast of “Rescue Me,” and several Husqvarna Rescue Saws. “Kickstarter.com” is a website designed to help raise financing for creative projects and employs a unique all-or-nothing fundraising method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.
“This film will help raise the public’s awareness to the work firefighters around the country do, as well as the sacrifices they make, particularly in these times of severe budget cuts,” says Denis Leary.
Apostle will help find the funds to finish the film, which up until now has been financed entirely through grants and charitable donations from individuals and corporations including General Motors, Apple, MSA and Cinereach. A portion of all proceeds from the film will go to The Leary Firefighters Foundation to purchase much-needed equipment for the Detroit Fire Department.
Apostle is a New York based film, television and new media production company that has produced the critically acclaimed television series “Rescue Me” and the feature film “Blow” among others.
The Leary Firefighters Foundation was established in 2000 by actor Denis Leary in response to a tragic fire in Worcester, Massachusetts that claimed the lives of Denis’ cousin, a childhood friend, and four other firefighters. The Foundation’s mission is to provide funding and resources for fire departments to obtain the best available equipment, technology and training. The Foundation is dedicated to helping maintain the highest level of public safety in our communities.

Harris Glenn Milstead, aka DIVINE (1945-1988), was the ultimate outsider turned underground hero. Spitting in the face of the status quos of body image, gender identity, sexuality, and preconceived notions of beauty, DIVINE succeeded in becoming an internationally recognized icon, recording artist, and character actor of stage and screen. Glenn went from the often-mocked, schoolyard fat kid to underdog royalty, standing up for millions of gay men and women, drag queens, punk rockers, and countless other socially ostracized misfits and freaks. Embracing a take-no-prisoners style, he starred in numerous cult classics including John Waters’ Pink Flamingos,” Female Trouble,” “Polyester,” and “Hairspray.” With a completely committed in-your-face style, he blurred the line between performer and personality, and revolutionized pop culture. DIVINE will always be a source of inspiration and has left an indelible “beauty mark” on popular culture.
I AM DIVINE, directed by Jeffrey Schwarz and produced by Schwarz and Lotti Pharriss Knowles, will premiere in the Summer of 2012.

Ritual Pictures Announces Fundraiser for "Malice"
7:18 PM | Fundrasing, Indie News, Malice with 0 comments »Writer/Producer Russ Adams recently send us over information about Ritual Pictures Kickstarter fundraiser for "Malice".
Press Release:
My small film company is making an Inquisition film called, MALICE. There are a number of big names working on the project already, but to move forward we really need the support of people like you to get the word out about our fundraiser.
Since January MALICE has been reviewed by both Hollywood and literary professionals, all of whom rave about the storyline and the film’s potential for success. We've even been approached to sell the screenplay, but by selling the story to a big production company we forfeit control of the film. If we want to retain the spirit of the project, we must produce MALICE as an independent film.
To get started we posted our project on Kickstarter.com, a leader in indie film fundraising. By visiting our kickstarter site, you and your audience have access to the film’s synopsis, learn more about who is involved with the project, and can donate to its development. This isn’t a hand out. There are many perks that come with the donations—such as DVDs, T-shirts, posters, and more.
We are going to make this film the way it was intended. Your site and audience can help by becoming a supporter. Just posting a link would be greatly appreciated. What do ya say? Don’t you want to be a part of a future blockbuster?
Here's Russ Adams to explain, where the money from this fundraiser will go towards.

"Napoleon Dynamite" Star Jon Heder To Produce "Drained"
5:40 PM | Fundrasing, Jon Hader, Short Film with 1 comments »Director Nick Peterson (Dark Mind) recently send us word about a new animated project that he is working on with actor Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite} Check out the special message from the filmakers above.
Press Release:
Proving that more is merrier, actor Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory) and director Nicholas Peterson (“MuM,” Dark Mind) turn to crowdsourced funding website Kickstarter to raise funds for a new short film titled “Drained.”
“Crowdsource funding strikes Nick and I as a fresh new way to fund bold, filmmaker driven films in the future. So we’re testing it out to see where it takes us,” says Heder.
Heder will draw on his background in animation to serve as producer of this cautionary tale that combines stop-motion animation techniques and a digital background with live actors to tell the powerful story of a woman gradually crushed by the destructive forces of an abusive relationship.
“Through Kickstarter, we hope to fund a film that is bigger than each individual’s contribution,” explains Peterson. “For as little as one dollar, people who are passionate about film can help put story to screen.”
