Press Release:

Award winning film director Richard Griffin, and award winning playwright Lenny Schwartz will present an encore screening of their wildly popular feature film, “Murder University”, on Sunday, August 26 at 7pm through Scorpio Film Releasing. The screening will take place at Cinema World in Lincoln, RI, where “Murder University” played to capacity audiences earlier this month at its premiere.

Both audiences and critics are raving about this homage to a genre made popular in the 1980’s. “Murder University” is not only full of gleeful mayhem, but also boasts beautiful visuals, a story full of interesting characters, comedic bits, great performances, and even a flashback musical number.

Director Griffin (“Nun of That, “The Disco Exorcist”) is deeply schooled in the history and technique of Exploitation Cinema. He and partner Ted Marr own Scorpio Film Releasing, which has produced more than 12 feature films, most of which are in world-wide release, or available through Amazon, Netflix or VOD.

Screenwriter Schwartz of Daydream Theatre Company (“Out to Rocky Point”, “Buster Keaton: Fade to Black”) has written and produced his original full-length plays for more than ten years. Schwartz’s work has been produced in both Rhode Island and New York City. His work produced in NYC includes “The Scarecrow”, “Squiggy and the Goldfish” and “The Six Month Cure”.

“We are thrilled that audiences reacted so well to the film”, says Schwartz. “This was the best film premiere I’ve ever had”, adds Griffin. “This is Lenny’s first swing at feature film writing and he hit it out of the park!”

Schwartz and Griffin joined creative forces to bring the 80’s retro classic, “Murder University”, to the big screen. Dozens of area actors were hired for the film including Jamie Dufault, Michael Thurber, Samantha Acampora, Sean Sullivan, Rich Tretheway, Lee Rush, Kevin Killavey, Christopher Ferreira, Nat Sylva and Daniel Lee White.

Tickets will be sold at the door, but advance tickets can be bought online at: http://www.scorpiofilmreleasing.net.
