"Adjust Your Tracking: The Untold Story of the VHS Collector": Teaser Trailer

Scorpio Film Releasing is gearing up for the release of their latest film "Dr. Frankenstein's Wax Museum of the Hungry Dead". They have provided with two new gruesome stills and the film's official trailer.

The film will be making its world premiere at Cinemaworld theater in Lincoln, Rhode Island on March 24th.. There will be two screenings at 7pm and 9pm. Tickets will be available at the door for $10.00 each. It will also be available on Scorpio Film Releasing's offical website soon.

Press Release:

Scorpio Film Releasing, the Rhode Island-based production company behind NUN OF THAT and THE DISCO EXORCIST, are set to premiere their 13th feature film production, DR. FRANKENSTEIN'S WAX MUSEUM OF THE HUNGRY DEAD on March 24th. In anticipation of the premiere, Scorpio Film Releasing are pleased to present the official full-length trailer for the film.

A celebration of Horror and the genre's greatest personalities, DR. FRANKENSTEIN'S WAX MUSEUM OF THE HUNGRY DEAD is a terrifying, often funny experiment in terror starring Michael Thurber (MURDER UNIVERSITY) in a new and twisted take on the sadistic Dr. Frankenstein. The film is directed by Richard Griffin from a script by Seth Chitwood and Griffin. DR. FRANKENSTEIN'S WAX MUSEUM OF THE HUNGRY DEAD follows a group of teenagers who spend the night in a creepy wax museum in Salem, MA only to find out that it's the secret lair of Dr. Frankenstein, who has been performing profane experiments on the town residents to create ... piece by piece... the ultimate nightmare.

See the new official full-length trailer here: http://vimeo.com/60532699

The world premiere of DR. FRANKENSTEIN'S WAX MUSEUM OF THE HUNGRY DEAD will be March 24th at the beautiful Cinemaworld theater in Lincoln, Rhode Island. There will be two screenings of the film -- 7pm and 9pm, tickets will be $10.00 at the door, and will soon be available on-line. The film is intended for mature audiences only. While un-rated the film contains violence, gore, adult language, and adult themes.

Director Richard Griffin says "I couldn't be more thrilled with how this movie turned out. Dr. Frankenstein's Wax Museum is a wild, gory ride that pays loving homage not only to the Hammer horrors of the late 50s and 60s, but also to the more freewheeling movies of Jess Franco and the blood-soaked films of Herschell Gordon Lewis. The performances, the cinematography and the special make-up effects are simply amazing, even for a micro-budget film such as this one. I think audience members are really going to eat up this kinky mix of horror and humor that we've served up!"

DR. FRANKENSTEIN'S WAX MUSEUM OF THE HUNGRY DEAD also presents actress Jamie Lyn Bagley and stars Jesse Dufault (MURDER UNIVERSITY), Shannon Hartman, Johnny Sederquist, Aurora Grabill (THE DISCO EXORCIST), Patrick Keeffe (MURDER UNIVERSITY), Aaron Peaslee (MURDER UNIVERSITY), Christopher Ferreira (THE DISCO EXORCIST), Nat Sylva (MURDER UNIVERSITY), Ryan Hanley (MURDER UNIVERSITY), Beatriz Lopez and Andre Boudreau (NUN OF THAT).

Future happenings for Scorpio Film Releasing include the upcoming DVD releases of EXHUMED from Wild Eye Releasing, production on the dark psychological drama NORMAL, written by Lenny Schwartz, this Spring, and the late 2013 production of THE DISCO EXORCIST sequel, BROTHER OF THE DISCO EXORCIST, written by Tony Nunes.

The filmmakers and XLrator Media has send us over screening information for "Greystone Park". The screening will take place at 42nd Streets Times Scares on October 16th at 10PM in New York City. The film marks marks Sean Stone's feature film directorial debut and stars Stone, Alexander Wraith, and Antonella Lentini with a special guest appearance by Oliver Stone. If you can't make it to the screening, "Greystone Park" will aviliable on DVD and Blu-Ray on the same day.

On a fall night, three filmmakers break into Greystone Park, a hospital known for its radical treatment of patients with mental illness, where electroshock, pressure baths, and lobotomies were commonplace. Once inside, the filmmakers discover that they are not alone; and having entered this realm, reality as they know it will never again be the same.

GREYSTONE PARK marks Sean Stone's feature film directorial debut and stars Stone, Alexander Wraith, and Antonella Lentini with a special guest appearance by Oliver Stone. The film takes Sean Stone's skills as a storyteller and performer, talents learned from working on his father’s films, and releases demons from the crevices of the dark, cavernous hospital.

“The film is made in the tradition of Edgar Allen Poe, the great American writer, who recognized that there is nothing more terrifying than not knowing whether one is experiencing something frightening, or whether one is going mad and simply creating the fear,” Stone says. “But perhaps, there is a connection between the two—the world we see is created by our imagination; and our imagination is fueled by the world we see. So from this fear-fueled journey, the shadows of Greystone Park have come alive...”

Sean has grown up in film, having acted since childhood in his father’s films, including THE DOORS, JFK, NATURAL BORN KILLERS, and SAVAGES. A graduate of Princeton University in 2006, Sean wrote and directed his first short film, SINGULARITY, in 2007, about a future world of constant big-brother surveillance in the name of fighting a mysterious ‘plague.’ Sean then became an editorial consultant on W., and subsequently worked as an editor on Oliver Stone’s 10-part documentary series on THE UNTOLD HISTORY OF AMERICA, which debuted at the 50th New York Film Festival.

Times Scare is a year-round horror-themed restaurant, bar, and haunted house, complete with a 200-seat theater, currently the home of Silence the Musical. GREYSTONE PARK is presented as part of the Terror Tuesdays film series, where for the mere price of a burger you gain entry into the dark lair within.

GREYSTONE PARK is now available on VOD and will be available on DVD on October 16th through XLrator Media.

Scorpio Film Releasing has send us information about the next screening for their latest film "Murder University" Earlier this month, the film sold out its first two screenings. The next screening is set to take place at Cinema World in Lincoln, RI on August 26th at 7PM.

Press Release:

Award winning film director Richard Griffin, and award winning playwright Lenny Schwartz will present an encore screening of their wildly popular feature film, “Murder University”, on Sunday, August 26 at 7pm through Scorpio Film Releasing. The screening will take place at Cinema World in Lincoln, RI, where “Murder University” played to capacity audiences earlier this month at its premiere.

Both audiences and critics are raving about this homage to a genre made popular in the 1980’s. “Murder University” is not only full of gleeful mayhem, but also boasts beautiful visuals, a story full of interesting characters, comedic bits, great performances, and even a flashback musical number.

Director Griffin (“Nun of That, “The Disco Exorcist”) is deeply schooled in the history and technique of Exploitation Cinema. He and partner Ted Marr own Scorpio Film Releasing, which has produced more than 12 feature films, most of which are in world-wide release, or available through Amazon, Netflix or VOD.

Screenwriter Schwartz of Daydream Theatre Company (“Out to Rocky Point”, “Buster Keaton: Fade to Black”) has written and produced his original full-length plays for more than ten years. Schwartz’s work has been produced in both Rhode Island and New York City. His work produced in NYC includes “The Scarecrow”, “Squiggy and the Goldfish” and “The Six Month Cure”.

“We are thrilled that audiences reacted so well to the film”, says Schwartz. “This was the best film premiere I’ve ever had”, adds Griffin. “This is Lenny’s first swing at feature film writing and he hit it out of the park!”

Schwartz and Griffin joined creative forces to bring the 80’s retro classic, “Murder University”, to the big screen. Dozens of area actors were hired for the film including Jamie Dufault, Michael Thurber, Samantha Acampora, Sean Sullivan, Rich Tretheway, Lee Rush, Kevin Killavey, Christopher Ferreira, Nat Sylva and Daniel Lee White.

Plot Synopsis:

In a small Irish village where life mostly revolves around fishing and rounds of Guinness, the arrival of Lisa, a policewoman who is, let’s be honest, rather uptight, perturbs the daily tranquility. This is a disaster for Ciaran, her partner for whom working drunk constitutes the norm, who vows to do whatever he can to make his stuck-up yet beautiful colleague sweat. However, a recent meteor crash has activated his demons that, while owing nothing to alcoholic delirium, will aggravate both Ciaran and his community’s headache. At first, fishermen start to vanish, followed by lacerated whales washing up on shore. When a villager brings back a monster found in a lobster trap (which he had to kill due to its aggressiveness), the incompatible duo has to collaborate on a surreal case that will lead them to discover the impossible: an invasion of enormous, blood-thirsty amphibious aliens. With the help of the village scientist, Ciaran and Lisa discover that the ingestion of the alcohol-affected blood causes irreversible damage to these undesirable creatures. A ‘genius’ plan presents itself: assemble all fellow citizens at the pub for a massive drink-fest and staggering fight for survival.

Plot Synopsis:

Set in New York City and written by career cop Michael Lovaglio, "The Night Never Sleeps" follows the journey of New York Street Crimes Sargent Thomas Cavanaugh (Dan Brennan) during the course of one night as he and his partners Rourke (Stephanie Finochio) and Jablonsky (Robert Clohessy) hunt down murderers of one of their task force. Pulling information from the denizens of the crime infested neighborhood, like seedy pimp, Hector (Eric Roberts), it becomes clear to the cops that those responsible are the Chicos Locos gang. A group headed by local drug dealer Victor Vargas( Jose Hernandez Jr.) and enforced by the ruthless, psycopathic killer "Iceman" (Russ Camarda). Cavanaugh begins to realize that Vargas' gang may be getting help... from inside the police deptartment. Internal Affairs Inspector Romanelli (Armand Assante) tips Cavanaugh off to the fact that there may be something rotten in his task force. Boundaries are crossed, lines are blurred...How far will Cavanaugh go for justice. Gritty, dark and authentic, "The Night Never Sleeps", with a driving score, and standout performances, evokes the spirit of films like "Taxi Driver" and "The French Connection" If you want to kill the Devil, you have to go to Hell to do it.

Murder University: Official Trailer

The filmmakers of "There's Nothing Out There" has send us over stills and information about a special screening at the New Beverly Cinema. The film was original released in 1992, but did find much of an audience in theaters. Over the years, it has gained a cult following on DVD.

On May 26th, THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE will be screening from a 35mm print for the first time in over 20 years. Rolfe Kanefsky and some crew members will be on hand for a Q & A before the film. This is a film that has been underground and is about to break new ground as it celebrates the past! The screening takes place at New Beverly Cinema at Midnight.

For more infomation on the screening you can get the info at: http://www.newbevcinema.com

You can also visit the film's official website at: http://www.theresnothingoutthere.com

Press Release:

It's been called “The Little Film That Could”. It's been called “The film that Inspired “SCREAM”. It's also been called “The Film that invented Meta-Horror”.

“THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE”, the low-budget independent film was directed by 20 year old filmmaker Rolfe Kanefsky who drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs described as having “invented the self-referential horror flick with THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE (an idea copied by Kevin Williamson's screenplay for SCREAM several years later.” Produced in 1989 on a budget of $125,000.00 told the traditional horror story of a group of high school kids who go to cabin in the woods for spring break only to be terrorized by a 1950's style alien creature. However one of the kids has been every horror film and knows the warning signs and rules of the genre.

When the film was theatrically released in 1992, Kevin Thomas of the L.A. Times called the film “Fast, funny, and a fine calling card for Hollywood. THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE is a winner!”. Janet Maslin of the New York Times said, “Mr. Kanefsky does show energy and promise. It's easy to be well-disposed towards a horror film in which the answer to a question like “Where's Jim?” is, “Jim's in the other room, melting.” Variety said, “Very funny- A tongue and cheeky thriller”. Hollywood Reporter responded with “It's a lot of fun. The potential to become a cult hit in there.”

Audiences and critics agreed that NOTHING was indeed something. But when it opened in New York in January 1992, it was during one of the worst blizzards in years. When the Laemmle Theaters opened the film as a midnight showing in Santa Monica in April of 1992, the L.A. Riots stopped everything and the curfew on the city of Los Angeles ended its' run.

But the film refused to go away. It played on HBO/Cinemax and hit video, laser and eventually DVD. Then in 1996, Wes Craven made a horror film called “Scream”. Many believe that Jamie Kennedy's character of “Randy” was based on the prototype of actor Craig Peck's character of “Mike” in “THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE”.

When NOTHING first hit DVD in 2000, the L.A. Weekly gave it the video pick of the week and said, “The film is practically a blueprint from the Wes Craven/Kevin Williamson franchise, and over the years, the fanbase for “NOTHING” has continued to grow.”

With screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse in Texas last month and the midnight screening at the New Beverly Cinema on May 26th, “NOTHING” has gained such recognition that a 40-minute play was performed on London for a sold out crowd in front of the premiere screening of “THE CABIN IN THE WOODS”. The play tells the story of how a writer and director named Rolfe Kanefsky made a little horror comedy called THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE that started the genre which audience members playing “Kanefsky” and “Wes Craven”.
