Press Release:

Scorpio Film Releasing, the RhodeIsland-based production company behind such genre hits as NUN OF THAT and the upcoming THE DISCO EXORCIST, have done it again, wrapping production last week on their 12th feature film production MURDER UNIVERSITY. An homage to the slasher films of the 80's, MURDER UNIVERSITY is the production company's most violent and gory film to date and stars Jamie Dufault, Michael Thurber, and Samantha Acampora.

Director Richard Griffin says "Murder University, which marks Scorpio Film Releasing's 12th feature, is nothing but pure entertainment. Extreme graphic violence, action, sex, nudity, comedy, a musical number... hell, anything and everything we could throw at the audience, we did! The performances are top-notch, and the movie has a scope that most low budget films could only dream of. It's a great testament to my amazingly hardworking crew and my tireless producers Ted Marr & Kristin Kayala."

Acclaimed playwright turned screenwriter Lenny Schwartz adds "It's been an honor and a privilege to work with this cast, crew, producers and director on the film. It certainly is the bloodiest thing I have ever written and it is filled with things I have never done in the theater: blood, sex, extreme violence and nudity. And that positively fills me with glee."

Actor Jamie Dufault says "I've spent nearly every weekend for the past two and a half months engaging in general debauchery with this wonderful cast and crew, and I've loved every second of it. It's an experience I won't soon forget."

Actress Samantha Acampora explains "Murder University was an amazing experience for me. We started filming soon after I returned from a year living in LA, and it was great having this to come home to. I love Lenny's writing, and the crew was so professional and fun to work with. I was really sad to wrap... Richard is a wonderful director, and I got to work with such talented actors like Jamie Dufault and Michael Thurber. I can't wait to see how the whole thing turns out!"

Murder University also stars Sean Sullivan, Rich Tretheway, Nat Sylva, Lee Rush, Nick Apostolides, Christopher Ferreira, Kevin Killavey and Daniel Lee White.

MURDER UNIVERSITY will premiere in late July of 2012, stay tuned for more info on screenings and the upcoming trailer for the film.

Future productions for Scorpio Film Releasing include the upcoming web series PLANET OF THE GORILLA SUIT, a loving homage to the cliffhanger serials of the 30s, 40s and 50s written by Guy Benoit, the dark psychological drama NORMAL, written by Lenny Schwartz, and in early 2013 will be the sequel to THE DISCO EXORCIST titled THE BROTHER OF
THE DISCO EXORCIST, written by Tony Nunes.

Press Release:

Scorpio Film Releasing is currently three weeks into production on their newest feature, the Richard Griffin directed MURDER UNIVERSITY being shot entirely in Rhode Island. An homage to slasher films of the early 1980’s, MURDER UNIVERSITY is on pace to be SFR’s most violent outing. Griffin's past films include NUN OF THAT, ATOMIC BRAIN INVASION and THE DISCO EXORCIST, all tone and style-perfect incarnations of the B-movie trends of their respected eras.

Director Richard Griffin says: "Even though we just past the 1/3rd mark of production, Murder University has turned out to be our most blood-soaked feature to date. It's wonderful having such talented special effects artists as Eric Rodrigues and Jordan Pacheco to create such gruesome works of art. I know horror fans are pretty much fed up to the eyeballs with CG gore and want a return to the hand-crafted artistry of practical make-up effects and Murder University delivers bucketfuls of the gruesome groceries!”

Producer Ted Marr adds: "The entire cast is really top-notch, with our three leads Jamie Dufault, Michael Thurber and Sammi Acampora giving performances that easily rival anything seen in a multi-million dollar blockbuster. It's so important in a horror film that you actually care about the characters you put in harm's way... and our actors really make these people three-dimensional and not just the typical "Dead Meat Characters" you see in most slasher films of this type."

Griffin continues: "For all those horror fans who are sick to death of found footage films and Paranormal Activity riffs, ... I promise Murder University will be a gore-filled, gourmet cinematic cheeseburger you can enjoy with a bunch of friends and your best six-pack!"

MURDER UNIVERSITY is written by acclaimed New England playwright Lenny Schwartz, directed by Richard Griffin and produced by Ted Marr and Kristen Kayala. The film stars Jamie Dufault, Michael Thurber and Sammi Acampora.
