Welcome to the 966th edition of my series.  I hope everyone is hanging in these times.  Next weekend starts the first of two weekends for MUCH ADO ABOUT MURDER.  Details are at the bottom page.  Also, I am returning to ring announcing in my first time in over a decade and put the flyer for that right above so make your plans in the next few weeks.

Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015):  Tomm Jacobsen, Michael Rousselet, and Jon Salmon directed this horror parody.  Alec Owen stars as Brent Chirino whose twin brother Brock was murdered.  He infiltrates a fraternity to investigate his death.  Soon, murders are committed by "Motherface".  Olivia Taylor Dudley, Larry King, Skyler Rousselet, Greg Sestero, Katie J. Stone, and many others co-star in this horror comedy.  Yes, that is the same Larry King from the news.  This is essentially a Grindhouse parody.  It has lots of unrealistic gore and fake commercials with an old VHS sort of transfer.  As far as I know, this is no part one and two to this movie with a three in it.  Take this for what it is worth and can be some fun if not taken too seriously.  This is available to watch on Prime, TUBI, and Pluto TV.

Interview with the Vampire (1994):  Neil Jordan directed this film which was adapted from the classic vampire novel by Anne Rice.  Brad Pitt stars as the vampire Louis who is about two centuries of age and is about to do an interview with reporter Daniel Malloy, played by Christian Slater.  He reflects on his times of being turned into a vampire by the charismatic but dangerous Lestat, played by Tom Cruise, and the father/daughter type relationship he had with Claudia, played by Kirsten Dunst.  Antonio Banderas, John McConnell, Thandiwe Newton, Stephen Rea, and many others co-star in this vampire film.  This is one of the best vampire films of all time.  Anne Rice loved the adaptation of her novel.  Pitt and Cruise work very well together even if they apparently didn't get along well on the set.  This could be a great double feature to go along with BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA.

Mulan (1998):  Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook directed this Disney classic.  Ming-Na Wen voices the title character of Mulan, sung by Lea Solanga, whose aging father Fa Zhou, voiced by Soon-Tek Oh, is called to the army for the war against the Huns.  Mulan decides to replace her father and pose as a man in the army lead by Shang, voiced by BD Wong and sung by Donny Osmand, where she slowly begins to fit into the army.  Eddie Murphy is very amusing as the voice of the dragon Mushu who is trying to mentor Mulan.  Miguel Ferrer, Harvey Fierstein, Freda Foh Shen, June Foray, James Hong, Miriam Margolyes, Pat Morita, Marni Nixon, James Shigeta, George Takei, Gedde Watanabe, and many others co-star in this Disney film.  The '90s period of Disney is my favorite time for Disney and maybe animation in general.  This has a lot of really good music numbers including I'LL MAKE A MAN OUT OF YOU which is one of my favorite songs to karaoke.  This is also a good homage to the Chinese dynasty.  There is not a lot more I need to explain.  This is available to watch on Disney Plus.

Human Interest Story (1959):  This is my short film for the week which is more like my tv episode of the week with comes from the popular anthology series ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS.  Norman Lloyd directed this episode which was written by Fredric Brown.  Steve Mcqueen stars as newspaperman Bill Everett whose editor has him go to the bar across the street to interview a man claiming to be a Martian.  Arthur Hill co-stars as Howard Wilcox who claims to be the Martian and goes into his story.  Tyler McVey and William Challee co-star in this episode.  Also, in the beginning, Clint Eastwood can be seen as a newsroom employee.  As always on this series, Hitchcock opens the episode and has a closing statement.  This has the usual Hitchcock twist at the end of the episode.

Doctor X (1932):  Michael Curtiz directed this pre-code mystery horror movie.  Lee Tracy stars as wisecracking reporter Lee Taylor who is trying to find the Moon Killer.  His investigation leads into Doctor Xavier, played by Lionel Atwill, who performs strange experiments.  Fay Wray co-stars as the doctor's daughter Joanne, who resents Lee at first but slowly fall in love.  Preston Foster, John Wray, Henry Beresford, Arthur Edmund Carewe, Leila Bennett, Robert Warwick, George Rosener, and many others co-star in this horror film.  This is some decent horror from this era.  I thought the ending was done pretty well and where can we go wrong with a little Fay Wray?

Diary of a Mad Housewife (1970):  Frank Perry directed this satire which is based on the novel by Sue Kaufman.  Carrie Snodgrass stars as frustrated housewife Tina Balser, whose husband Jonathan ridicules her right in front of their daughters which seems to affect them as well.  She meets author George Prager, played by Frank Langella in his film debut, who is not much better than Jonathan but is more intriguing.  Katherine Meskill, Alice Cooper, Ja'net Dubois, Peter Boyle, and many others co-star in this film.  This is a bit of a sleeper and an interesting look at a troubled marriage.  This also features a soundtrack from the Alice Cooper Band where Cooper was just getting on the rise and is briefly featured in this movie.  This can be seen on Youtube and is worth a look.

Black Friday (1940):  Arthur Lubin directed this horror movie that takes place in the gangster world.  Boris Karloff stars as Dr. Sovac whose professor friend George Kingsley is at least on the verge of dying.  Sovac goes through some extreme measures to save his life by transplanting a brain from a dead gangster.  It seems to work very well but starts to get a split personality of the gangster.  Bela Lugosi stars as one of the gangsters in this film.  Anne Nagel, Anne Gwynne, Virginia Brissac, Edmund MacDonald, Paul Fix, and many others co-star in this horror film.  Karloff and Lugosi get top billing but Kingsley is more of the star of the film and gives a very underrated performance.  I found this available to watch on Youtube and is an underrated film for the season.

Nickel Boys (2024):  RaMell Ross directed this film which is based on the novel by Colson Whitehead.  Ethan Herisse and Brandon Wilson star as Elwood and Turner who become friends at an abusive reform school in Florida.  This takes place in the '60s when things like segregation were on the rise.  Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Sam Taylor, Najah Bradley, Jimmy Falls, and many others co-star in this film.  This is based on true events.  This would possibly be referred to as an experimental film.  The only thing I have to say is that I felt it took a lot from a Terence Malick film and I know some will know what I am talking about.

Coffy (1973):  Jack Hill directed this Blaxploitation classic.  Pam Grier stars as the nurse Coffy and she is also out for revenge against those that drove her sister to drugs.  Booker Bradshaw, Robert DoQui, William Elliott, Allan Arbus, Sid Haig, Barry Cahill, Lee de Broux, Lisa Farringer, Linda Haynes, John Perak, Mwako Cumbuka, Morris Buchanan, and many others co-star in this action film.  This ranks high in the way of the Blaxploitation genre where we have a sexy vigilante, great action, and a catchy soundtrack.  The next year, Grier would star in the classic FOXY BROWN, both are a lot of fun to watch.  There is a lot of political incorrectness and stereotyping which is to be expected in these kinds of movies.

Shanghai Noon (2000):  Tom Dey directed this western/martial arts comedy.  Jackie Chan stars as imperial guard Chon Wang who is sent rescue Princess Pei Pei, played by Lucy Liu.  He finds himself in the wild west and forms an unlikely partnership with train robber Roy O'Bannon, played by Owen Wilson.  Brandon Merrill, Roger Yuan, Xander Berkeley, Rongguang Yu, Eric Chen, Jason Connery, Walton Goggins, Adrien Dorval, Kate Luyben, and many others co-star in this action comedy.  Chan and Wilson make a great team together.  There is a lot of great fight scenes and comedy which is what this needs to be taken for.  This was a great revisit, I don't think I've really watched this through since I saw it in theaters.  I did not know about Lucy Liu or Walton Goggins at the time.

Well, that is it for this week, but keep reading for the "My Own Madness" segment.  Tell me what you like and dislike and stay tuned for next week.

WRESTLING MADNESS

NWA Powerrr 10/15/2025 (2025, 49 minutes, 666):  The Sinister Minister James Mitchell is once again in this episode so this should count.

TNA Bound For Glory 2025 (2025, 237 minutes, 6666):  I thought Mance Warner and Steph de Lander's entrance should qualify this one.
