Lionsgate’s TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D continues the legendary story of the homicidal Sawyer family, picking up where Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic left off in Newt, Texas, where for decades people went missing without a trace. The townspeople long suspected the Sawyer family, owners of a local barbeque pit, were somehow responsible. Their suspicions were finally confirmed one hot summer day when a young woman escaped the Sawyer house following the brutal murders of her four friends. Word around the small town quickly spread, and a vigilante mob of enraged locals surrounded the Sawyer stronghold, burning it to the ground and killing every last member of the family – or so they thought.

Decades later and hundreds of miles away from the original massacre, a young woman named Heather learns that she has inherited a Texas estate from a grandmother she never knew she had. After embarking on a road trip with friends to uncover her roots, she finds she is the sole owner of a lavish, isolated Victorian mansion. But her newfound wealth comes at a price as she stumbles upon a horror that awaits her in the mansion’s dank cellars.

But when the store’s regular Santa is injured, Billy is called upon to don the red suit. But as he does, he becomes a ticking time bomb. "The Devil Within", a film that I reviewed a couple of years ago is making some news. Lunar Motion Pictures recently released stills and a new trailer for "The Devil Within: Rise of Evil", which was recut and remastered for its VOD debut.

The film was recently release a couple of years ago, but the filmmakers recently released a new cut of the film that is faster paced, bloodier and sexier than its original version. The newly cut version is available now on Video-on-demand, Amazon and will be making it's Netfilx and iTunes debut later this year.

For more information on this film, you can goto: http://www.thedevilwithinfilm.com/

Press Release:

The audience spoke and the filmmakers listened. The Devil Within was originally released on DVD in June of 2010. In anticipation of its first appearance on video-on-demand, The Devil Within has undergone several changes. The film has been retitled The Devil Within: Rise of Evil and now, there is a new cut. The Devil Within: Rise of Evil is faster paced, bloodier and sexier than its original version.

At the heart of this horror title is a love story between Sirena (Elizabeth Di Prinzio) and John (Grey Damon). This relationship is put to the test at a pool party when Sirena’s rivals try to pull John away from her. As well, a killer enters the mix and he has his eyes set squarely on Sirena. Having sliced out any scenes that lagged in the original, this title is now more focused on what matters. This new cut introduces more blood in the film’s twist(ed) ending and gore fans will find something shocking in the finale. As well, the love scenes between John and Sirena are more explicit and the scenes of topless girls at the pool party have been extended! This latest version gives horror fans what they want: more violence and more sex!

The Devil Within: Rise of Evil has also been remastered. Many local Los Angeles artists have contributed to the film’s new soundtrack. Actress Elizabeth Di Prinzio adds her melodic vocals to a track. And artists Emii, Day Above Ground and The Sammus Theory also add rock tracks to the film’s score. With a new score and remastered audio on the release, the film has a fuller atmosphere and a faster tempo to the film.

The Devil Within: Rise of Evil stars the best in the horror genre. Actor Bill Oberst Jr. (Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies) plays the very creepy Principal Edwards. Oberst’s character stalks the party-goers and Sirena in a very strange fashion. What is he doing there? Actress Elizabeth Di Prinzio (Scary or Die) is the protagonist of the film and the focus of a shadowy figure. As well, Grey Damon (“True Blood”) plays John, Sirena’s very distracted boyfriend. When the alcohol flows, sexual conflicts and competitions begin. The tension increases when a mysterious killer enters the fray. What kind of a monster would murder a handicapped girl?

Live or Die Productions recently released the official trailer and stills for their upcoming film "Coyote". The film stars  Bill Oberst Jr, as an insomniac writer whose sleep-deprived hallucinations distort reality until his paranoia leads him to extreme violence. The film also stars Bill Finkbiner, Victoria Mullen and Tasha Zebrowski. No release information has been announced at this time.

For more information on this film, you can visit and like the film's official fan page at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Coyote/207299646022159

Press Release:

The first trailer for Coyote, an art-house horror film from director Trevor Juenger, has been released. In the film Bill Oberst Jr. plays an insomniac writer whose sleep-deprived hallucinations distort reality until his paranoia leads him to extreme violence. Coyote also stars Bill Finkbiner, Victoria Mullen and Tasha Zebrowski.

St. Louis-based director Trevor Juenger wrote the script for the micro-budget feature with Oberst in mind and he flew the actor to the midwest for a month of filming during the worst heatwave in decades. Oberst says: "That script was brutal, raw, explicit and offensive. The shoot was even more so. This film won't be for everyone. But Juenger reminds me so much of a young Lynch with a dash of Cronenberg that, I had to work him. I could not resist. We did this with no money, only passion for the experiment."

Of his lead actor Juenger says "I was listening to an interview with Bill Oberst Jr. today where he said his best asset is keeping quiet. Well, I have to disagree. I like a belligerent, aggressive, maniacal Bill Oberst Jr., screaming and threatening people. That is his strength. I don't think real mental illness is a quiet one. Bill embodies the abusive dad, boyfriend, or whatever misogynistic ugliness you experienced growing up. You can't stand up to him, when he's on the screen. Instead, he leaves you like a battered housewife, exhausted and helpless, yet attracted to the abuse.”

Coyote is an attempt to blend the arthouse genre, in which Juenger has primarily worked, with horror. The director admits it is a risky experiment: "If this is a horror movie (everyone assures me it is), it's unlike any horror film I've seen. I think we used the horror fundamentals that fit, and then threw away the book. Good, bad, revolting, or brilliant, I can't quite say. I can say its something fresh though. Someone called it David Lynch directs Falling Down. As much as I hate the Lynch comparisons, I thought that was fitting. It's what I wanted to see. I hope you feel the same.

“Excision” is one of those films that I’ve personally been waiting for. The film is based on the short film that Richard Bates Jr. did back in 2008. That short film earned rave review including one by yours truly. It also played at many film festivals. When I saw the first trailer for this film, I was blown way. I had lot of expectation going into this film, considering it played at Sundance and Fantasia this year

The film follows Pauline (AnnaLynne McCord), an unattractive high school girl, who hates her mother (Tracy Lords) with a passion while caring for her chronically ill sister (Ariel Winter). She always dreams about losing her virginity to one of the school’s popular classmates. This leads her down a road of psychological fantasies that deals with her performing graphic surgery. Soon, Pauline is willing to make her delusional dreams become reality to save her sister. The film also features appearances from Roger Bart (Hostel Part II, Law Abiding Citizen, American Gangster), Malcolm McDowell (The Artist, A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie’s Halloween, HBO’s “Entourage”) and cameos from Ray Wise, director John Waters, and Academy Award® winner Marlee Matlin.

Going into this, I was going in wondering if this was going to expanse on the short film that I watched two year ago. Would it bring more depth to the story and makes this worth watching it as a feature film? Thankfully, the answer is yes. “Excision” is one of the most shocking films that I’ve seen this year.

The first reason that this film succeeds on all levels was writer/director Richard Bates Jr. and his direction. This film has a lot of scenes that are very gory and disturbing to watch. One of things that he does very well, he carefully makes sure that visuals are very twisted and frightening. Bates Jr. does that to make you see the main character’s state of mind from a visual perspective, as it comes off as very sick and flat out demented. It helps the film feel more different and more ambitious than the film’s original short.

The other thing that I really liked about the direction was the acting. I was truly surprised that the main performances were excellent. It’s something that I can’t say for many of these horror films that I watch. Bates Jr. does a very good job making the film also be about the performances. It takes the film to another level. I truly though AnnaLynne McCord and former adult film star Traci Lords did great jobs in the way that brought emotional depth into their performances. It made them stand out from the film’s story. Also, they did a very good job working well with each other. It made the troubled mother/daughter dynamic work so well, which also helped the overall film.

Bates’ screenplay does a very good job developing the main character from the original short. One of the things that makes this screenplay different, it spends a lot of time on the main character’s state of mind. I liked, the way that he goes into the various delusions that are running in the main character’s head. It makes the character interesting and also focuses more on her obsessions and her thoughts. The other thing that makes this very good and different was the fact that the story also focuses on the main character’s troubled relationship with her mother. It was briefly touched upon in the original short, but it’s expanded very well here. It led to some very good dramatic moments between the characters that kept my interest in the story considering that I already watched the original short film.
Don’t be surprised to see this film pop again, if I decide to do a year- end list.

“Excision” is a great feature film debut from director Richard Bates Jr, as is one of those directors that horror fans should keep their eye on. This is one of those films that horror fans should check out, as this has shocking visuals and great performances from AnnaLynne McCord and Traci Lords.

Review Rating: Five Stars

After watching the last “Killjoy film, I thought it was one of those films that had good direction and no storytelling. When I heard the news that Full Moon was making a fourth “Killjoy” film with mostly the same cast and director, I was not interested at all. But after seeing the trailer and various stills of the film, I have to say it generated enough of my interest that I’m reviewing it for this site.

The fourth film picks up where the last film left off. After not claiming all of his victims from the last film, Killjoy (Trent Hagga) is sent to hell to go on trial and face the devil himself. He must prove to him and himself that he’s an evil demon that takes the souls of the people that summons him. The only way that Killjoy can get out of this mess is with the help of his demonic friends Batty Boop, Punchy,

Freakshow and the surviving victim that he tormented in the last film. Killjoy and his friends must find a way to plot a daring rescue attempt to break out of hell. Only problem is, they have deal with meddlesome detectives, renegade clowns and a mess of other demons. If they don’t succeed, they will suffer a fate worse than hell.
Going into this film, I thought I was going to have the same problem watching this film like I had with “Killjoy’s Revenge”. I was so wrong about this film, as I really enjoyed this film more than the last one.

Writer/director John Lechgo, who also directed and wrote the screenplay for the last film, does a good job making his story and his direction quite well. One of the things that I liked about the direction, he does a very good job making the action and the building up to it. Even though, the direction was good in the last film, I thought everything felt better. The effects were better and the action sequences were much better. Maybe it was the fact that was different from the last film. That’s a good thing, as I interested in this film. The acting here was also good. Trent Hagga is always good in any film that he appears in, but I thought he took the character another level here. The way he delivers the lines sounds much funnier and more entertaining than the last film. It’s also probably the fact that he had better script to work with.

The screenplay was much improved, as I thought that was the downfall of the last film. Lechago does very good job coming up with a story that has humor and some crazy moments. I liked, how he focuses on the aftermath and goes in a different direction with the two main characters from the last film. It makes the film interesting and makes you forgive the mistakes of the last film. I enjoyed this story a lot better. I also liked, how Lechago decided to write a screenplay that focuses more on playing for laughs than making a serious horror film. He does that, by making the film’s tone less serious. It provides for crazier scenes that keep you entertained.

“Killjoy Goes to Hell, is a much improved from “Killjoy 3”. The film has a better screenplay and improves on the direction of the last film. Check this film out, if you’re looking for an entertaining horror film.

Review Rating: Four Stars.

BDHR Entertainment has send us information about their Kickstarter campaign which will be going now until November 5th. The film has already raised $1,449. But it's well short of the $5,330 that is needed to fund the project.

For more information on this Kickstarter Campaign and donate to it, you can goto: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brandonsites/the-new-neighbor

Press Release:

The New Neighbor is about a college student & her brother (Ky Mahone) who notice a puzzling epidemic sweeping their neighborhood timed to the arrival of a new neighbor. Everyone starts to turns pale, they act anemic, they avoid sunlight and they might have a strange bite mark on their neck. They become convinced that the new neighbor is slowly turning everyone into vampires. To complicate matters, sis finds herself inexplicably drawn to the neighbor's son (Ryan Sandefur). Is she a moth being drawn to the film? Or is there a greater evil at work?

What makes our take on the vampire film unique?

Instead of just focusing on vampires biting people, we put the emphasizes on suspense, mystery & the sexy perks of being able to take control of ones mind through the vampiric seduction, and how it would affect a girl that is suspicious of a vampiric outbreak in her small friendly neighborhood, only to be thrown off of by being involuntarily being drawn to and being caught in the middle of a dangerously steamy affair with the one guy she is so worried about?

We also put an emphasizes on how a vampire outbreak would affect people, how it would change the lives of a small community.

How Kickstarter works:

If our campaign is successful, we will have enough money through Kickstarter contributions and private investments so that we can film The New Neighbor in January 2013.

If this Kickstarter campaign does not meet its funding goal, we do not get to keep one single cent. Kickstarter is ALL or NOTHING, meaning that we have to raise 100% of the funds.

You decide on which reward you want to claim or what amount you want to contribute. Kickstarter will bill you $1. At the end of the campaign, if we have reached our funding goal, you will be billed for what you pledged. If not, then no one gets billed. Even if you don't have the money today, as long as you have it by Nov. 5, 2012, you can take part in this campaign and choose a pledge amount.
If you can't contribute financially, please SHARE this link and our story with your Facebook and Twitter friends so that we can get word of mouth out.
What do I get?

We have awesome REWARDS! You can claim a free advance copy of the film, talk with star Ryan Sandefur on the phone or cam to cam via Google Talk, artwork by either Executive Producer Patrick Young or Travis Caverhill, a role in the film, producer credits and oh so much more!

Thanks again for your show of support

Now that Halloween is drawing near, female filmmakers working in genre cinema are stampeding to Viscera as it announces its 2013 festival call for submissions. Now through February 28, 2013 (culminating in Women in Horror Month), Viscera is accepting digital submissions for its 2013 festival season. Unlike most festivals, Viscera does not charge submission fees. Filmmakers interested in submitting should head to the Submissions tab of the main website, www.viscerafilmfestival.com.

For filmmakers whose work is selected, gore-soaked masses of thrilling experiences await. On the Viscera Film Festival Bloody Carpet Event, filmmakers pose for photos and meet fans and fellow filmmakers, as well as big-name celebrity guests. Films are screened in front of enthusiastic crowds (this July, Viscera screened at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles). Uniquely beautiful awards are given out, and there’s always an after-party. But the Viscera World Tour is the real draw: Festival-selected films are shown around the world throughout the year. As every filmmaker knows, the more a film screens, the greater the opportunity is for furthering a career in the industry.

Although Viscera’s primary mission is to promote female filmmakers, the Organization doesn’t believe in exclusion or domination, but in equality. Many men are co-directors/co-producers of the films programmed. Even scary little monsters (filmmakers age 18 and under) can gain support in their budding careers via Viscera’s Fresh Blood category.

“I believe in the Viscera Film Festival and what it has done for women filmmakers everywhere by creating one of the few venues available to showcase the work women are doing in the genre and avant-garde film world. It is a small but steadily growing community and the Viscera Film Festival, along with its ancillary endeavors, act as a support system and a bridge for these filmmakers to find one another and connect on a creative and professional level. Without the film festival, I would not have met many of the bright and talented women filmmakers, actors and producers that I now work with on a daily basis.”

– Amber Benson, Director/Actress (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Drones)

“As a producer of genre films, I can assure you that there is no other organization in the United States which has taken on these objectives with the degree of passion and commitment as VFF.”

– Elizabeth Stanley, Producer (Dark Path Chronicles)

“Thanks to their championing of females who write, direct and produce horror films, I have been given the chance to share my voice and vision with a wider audience, which has facilitated some significant opportunities in my career.”

– Devi Snively, Filmmaker (Confederate Zombie Massacre)

Additionally, horror photographer Joshua Hoffine, known for his work depicting children’s nightmares, lent one of his frightening images for the call for submissions poster. It depicts a menacing monsteress lying on a field of rose petals in the style of American Beauty, which illustrates the horror and beauty of Viscera’s mission in gorgeous, full-blooded color.

In 1987, Empire Pictures and Charles Band created an anthology film called "PULSE POUNDERS", comprised of three segments: a short sequel to "TRANCERS", a short sequel to "THE DUNGEONMASTER" and a loose adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "THE EVIL CLERGYMAN".

"PULSEPOUNDERS" was shot and edited in 1988, but unfortunately caught up in the financial wranglings that followed the collapse of Empire Pictures. The 35mm negative was lost before a final cut was approved or any sound work had been done.

Recently, a "PULSEPOUNDERS" VHS workprint was discovered. Charles Band and a team of experts digitally restored the "Clergyman" segment, and Richard Band composed an 80s-style-score for it.

The result: an absolutely excellent gem of a (short) movie!

"The Evil Clergyman" is 28 minutes of shockingly brilliant 80s awesomeness. I'm not a big fan of Band's work, but omg, this is probably the best thing he has ever done. It's tense, gripping and extremely atmospheric, plus: a highly erotic sequence and a few hilarious moments.

The direction is almost flawless, Dennis Paoli's ("Re-Animator", "From Beyond") screenplay is strong and unique, Mac Ahlberg's ("House 1-3") cinematography is gorgeous and captivating, Giovanni Natalucci's ("Troll", "Dolls") set design is a treat for the eyes, and Richard Band's ("House On Sorority Row") score is as marvellous as everything else he ever composed.

The acting is also terrific: an excellent and highly emotional performance of the wonderful Barbara Crampton ("From Beyond"), a super-creepy Jeffrey Combs ("Re-Animator 1-3"), an equally creepy David Warner ("The Omen") and David Gale ("Re-Animator 1-2") as funny-looking rat-creature.

Highlight: Una Brandon-Jones as nasty landlady, delivering great lines like
"I used to be as beautiful as you are... but there's a worm in the body... in EVERY body... that eats it away."

Hands down, "The Evil Clergyman" is absolutely fantastic! Fans of good ol' 80s horror and everything Empire/Full-Moon-related will orgasm.

Just in time for the Halloween season, Irrational Films has made Dan Riesser's horror-comedy short film NIGHT OF THE PUNKS available for online streaming via YouTube.

In Night of the Punks, small town punk rockers The Brain Deads have their first out of town show, but there are a few problems: the venue is deserted, the promoter is a creep, their bassist has gone missing and the only kids in the audience turn out to be bloodthirsty punk rockers from Hell.

Drawing inspiration from Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Demons and the Evil Dead series, Night of the Punks is a blood-splatted love letter to '80s horror cinema. The cast includes industry veteran Luke Edwards (The Wizard, Little Big League, Newsies), sketch comedian Nick Munday, professional wrestler Vic D. Vine and L.A. horror punk band Murderland. The short has been Official Selection at more than 25 film festivals around the world and took home numerous awards and accolades.

Director Dan Riesser comments, "Making Night of the Punks and taking it to festivals was an amazing experience, and I'm glad everyone now has a chance to catch it on YouTube." Riesser plans to turn the self-financed, 19-minute short into a feature film. The script is complete and the project is currently seeking funding. In the interim, Riesser is focusing on his feature directorial debut, Stomping Ground. Billed as a scary comedy about love and Bigfoot, the movie enters production this month.

Allow me to take you on a journey…

I finished and submitted my first review for www.Filmarcade.net and was given
another list of films from which I could choose three. First on the list was Zombie
Babies. I thought, “Dude, Zombies + Babies = awesomeness. How could this
possibly be bad? I mean it’ll probably be bad, but bad in a good way, right? Totes,
now, let’s play Borderlands 2. Sweet!”

Yesterday I come home from work and there is a package in my door. “Movies!” I
exclaimed in sheer delight and opened up the package. The cover for Zombie Babies
depicts a sonogram of a zombie baby. I was immediately excited. I turn it around
and read the synopsis and saw some gory photos and a puppet zombie baby. I
was super stoked. Then this morning, 10-6 10:00 a.m. EST, I got up and threw it
in the ol’ Xbox and prepared myself for cheesy awesomeness…the only cheese was
that European Maggot Cheese, you know, the “delicacy” where maggots eat the
cheese, then people eat the cheese excrement from the maggots, yeah, that, and no
awesomeness whatsoever.

How do I begin to describe this cinematic abortion that is about abortions? Well,
here we go:

The following is from the back of the case. Anything in () is me putting it in plain
terms: “When a local entrepreneur, (Two rednecks), advertises a new, painless,
late-term abortion method, a group of couples (forgettable rubes), flock to his hotel
(/casino), to take advantage. During their weekend retreat, (apparently going
to a hotel/casino for an abortion counts as a retreat), a freak accident, (a still of
moonshine exploding), reanimates the (pile of) fetuses, filling them with the desire
for vengeance and a taste for human flesh.”

Ok, I’m still all in at this point as I am expecting an ultra-low budget, Charles Band style of film here. I was wrong. Dead wrong! This film was TERRIBLE and not in that good way.

There was a ton of green screen. Note to aspiring directors out there: Make sure
the D.P. and the person in charge of the keying in post knows what the hell they are
doing! Parts of people clashed with the screen and bits of them were masked out,
puppeteers looked like Predator the way they were attempted to be masked out.
Look, obviously this was low budget, I get that, but there are still basic things you
can do for free (BitTorrent and Google) to make it look semi-good, or taking the
time, good.

When we are first introduced to the morons, excuse me, characters, it’s done on
a terrible green screened background with repeating digital fog (it casually fills
the screen, then once full, it starts over empty, and then casually fills the screen
again. Very jarring, err, annoying.) In the special thanks, they thank the town of

Sutton. Are there no wooded areas in Sutton to get a decent exterior shot? With
all the effort they put into the bad screening, they could’ve done it right in a natural
environment.

The sound design/editing…wait there was none. There are sequences where there
was supposed be dialogue dubbed in and wasn’t. See 1:04:57 into the film for the
most egregious offense. There was virtually no sound FX at all, no splats, no thumps,
no nothing…NOTHING, I TELLS YA!

The direction was what it was. As the old saying goes, “You can’t polish a turd.” But
boy, did the director really try, and kept trying, even when the turd got all smeared
across everything. He was determined (pounds the table) to polish that turd. An A
for effort, bud. I really feel like this had the potential to be something awesome, low
budget or not. You had the FX and you had puppets. PUPPETS, DUDE! FREAKIN’
USE THEM RIGHT!!! Might as well have just made them digital as well.

The script also was what it was: Basic, to the point, and very irreverent. It had all
the trappings of a potentially good/bad low budget horror flick: bad dialogue, some
nudity, terrible characters that were all fodder for the babies, a bad plot, etc.

The main characters, Burt Fleming, owner of the Hotel/Casino and basically a mash
up of all of Bill Moseley’s psycho redneck characters i.e. Choptop and Otis from
House of 1,000 Corpses, and his man servant/minion, Teddy were kind of ok. (That
is being generous, like “if I won the Powerball and gave you 95% of the winnings”,
kind of generous.) The rest of the cast was a vapid, forgettable mix of Jock, Fat guy,
Prom Queen, Honest Guy, Honest Girl, Hooker, Rich Guy, Bitch. Now once again,
I know this is low budget, but a good director can direct actors to deliver what
you want. The true star of this film was the character Kevin’s T-shirt, which was a
picture of a Question block from Super Mario Bros. 1, and underneath it said, “I’d hit
that.”

As for the special features, I didn’t even listen to the commentary because, nothing
this bad could be explained away. I fast forwarded through the “Making of” and saw
they shot this on a Canon DSLR. I’ve worked with these and they produce awesome
looking footage. I don’t know what happened.

If this, a poorly directed, poorly mastered final product was your intention, Director
Eamon Hardiman, congrats, you delivered!

This film “Jose Consecoed” me. If you by chance ever view this, you’ll understand
what that term means, and you will probably feel the same. (It’s bad).

Full Moon Features recently send us over stills for H.P. Lovecraft's "The Evil Clergyman".
