Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, acquires the horror thriller WOLF CREEK 2 at the 2013 American Film Market. Original helmer and writer Greg Mclean returns to the sequel along with John Jarratt, who plays the film’s original antagonist. Shannon Ashlyn, Ryan Corr, and Phillipe Klaus also co-star. WOLF CREEK 2 is scheduled for a 2014 release. The announcement was made today by Image Entertainment’s Chief Acquisition Officer, Bill Bromiley.

“We are thrilled to work with Greg Mclean on the follow-up to his superbly made first feature film,” says Bromiley. “Mick Taylor is one of the most sadistic characters I have seen on screen and the sequel does not disappoint – it gets under the skin, we can’t wait to show horror fans!”

The sequel to the smash box office hit, WOLF CREEK 2 reunites viewers with the Australian outback and the film’s murderous bushman. The outback once more becomes a place of horror as another unwitting tourist becomes the prey for crazed, serial-killing pig-shooter Mick Taylor (John Jarratt).

Plot Synopsis:

Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE) brand, has acquired all US and Canadian rights to Hannibal Classics’ new action-thriller Tokarev, starring Nicolas Cage. Tokarev (working title) is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2014. The deal was announced today by Image Entertainment’s Chief Acquisitions Officer, Bill Bromiley.

“We are excited to add this action-thriller to our slate next year,” said Bromiley. “Nicolas Cage elevates the film to new heights, reaching a wider audience not only domestically but internationally as well.”

Tokarev begins physical production in Alabama in June. Hannibal Classics’ sales division will handle worldwide sales and will be selling the film in Cannes.

“Our experience with Image Entertainment has always been positive,” says Hannibal Classics’ CEO and Tokarev Producer, Richard Rionda Del Castro. “The commitment of their key executives to aggressively distribute Hannibal Classics and Hannibal Pictures’ films makes us all winners. Budgeted at $15 million, the film is an adaptation of Anné Mariè du Preez Bezdrob’s biography Winnie Mandela: A Life and is written and directed by Darrell J. Roodt.

Winnie Mandela stars Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls; Sex in the City) and Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow; Red Tails; Iron Man) and will be released in theaters Fall 2013.
